SIGNING – Walton continues progression with senior contract.

Newcastle Thunder are building up to the first instalment of the 2019 Betfred League 1 playoffs this Sunday with the unveiling of five new faces graduating into the 2020 senior squad from the club’s academy.

Day four sees young North Tynesider Tyler Walton unveiled as the next home-grown youngster to earn a berth in the senior squad for 2020.

Proud to hail from Howden, the youngster is rated as one of the best players in terms of skills to have come through the Thunder pathway and provides lots of threats on the field.

A player who has been playing at Under 19s level a year young in 2019, the change of the age-grade structures for 2020 have afforded Walton the chance to take another step forward in his ongoing development.

Playing the game from Under 12s level, the Wallsend Eagles product joined the Thunder academy pathways at Under 16 level but continues to turn out for his community club whenever he is able to.

Impressing throughout the year by showing no ill effects after losing all of the 2019 pre-season to injury, Walton is another example of the club producing talented players that are able to form the local core of the Thunder first team in coming seasons.
