Entries open for Moody Festival & Cup

Entries are now open for young rugby league players to enjoy games at Kingston Park Stadium this May, as Newcastle Thunder launch their new look Moody Logistics Cup.

Held ahead of Thunder’s League 1 home game against Keighley on May 19, the Moody Logistics Cup offers young players from Under 8s to Under 10s a series of festival games, and a competitive cup for teams in Under 12s and Under 14s.

Now into its third year, the festival and cup competition attracts teams from across the North East, Cumbria, Durham and West Yorkshire, allowing players the opportunity to play against clubs that they may not ordinarily meet.

With games spread across the Kingston Park Stadium complex, youngsters have the chance to play games on the same pitches used by Newcastle Thunder and in the case of the Under 12s, to contest their final at half time of the day’s League 1 game.

In the past attending clubs have included Batley Boys,  Cramlington Rockets, Gateshead Storm and Yarm Wolves and with new clubs emerging across the region, it is hoped the 2019 festival and cup will be the biggest and best yet.

As well as enjoying their own games, all players and coaches receive a free ticket to watch the afternoon’s Thunder game, with any extra tickets for family and friends, offered at a specially discounted price.

Any club interested in entering a team for either of the Under 8s, 9s or 10s festivals or the Under 12s or 14s cups should email jordan.robinson@newcastle-thunder.co.uk for more information.
