Rennie re-signs for 2017

Cook Island international prop Vincent Rennie will remain a Newcastle Thunder player for the 2017 season, after agreeing to a new contract with the club.

Rennie, 22 joined Thunder from Bulldogs in Australia and after earning international honours for the Cook Islands as part of the qualification campaign for the 2017 Rugby league World Cup and has made a significant impact in his first season in England.

His bulldozing style of play has seen him become a firm fixture of Thunder’s match day squads and make a significant contribution to scoreboard across the campaign, with 13 tries to his name.

Becoming the third member of the current squad to commit his immediate future to Thunder, following the re-signings of 2016 co-captains Joe Brown and Rhys Clarke earlier in the summer, Rennie says he is excited by the potential of Newcastle Thunder for next year.

“The club has made my family and me feel welcome and that has been a big part of why I wanted to stay on for next year.

“We have a good group of boys together which we will hopefully be able to keep on for next year and kick on and push for a spot higher up the table and I’m really excited for that.”

Season Tickets to see Rennie and Newcastle Thunder in action during 2017 are on sale now, starting from £100 for adults and will include home Kingstone Press League 1 fixtures.
