MATCH PREVIEW – North Wales Crusaders

Newcastle Thunder’s push towards the end of season promotion play-offs begins in earnest this weekend when North Wales Crusaders are the visitors to Kingston Park Stadium (KO 2pm)

Following two very creditable performances against Bradford Bulls and York City Knights in the space of five days, Thunder will be looking to build on those foundations and start chasing down a place in the top five of Betfred League 1.

Currently ninth on 16 points, Thunder’s run in sees Jason Payne’s team play all of the teams currently ranked third to eighth and well in control of their own destiny in terms of making those crucial games in September.

They however first come up against a steadily improving North Wales outfit that will be out to take their first win in three games having narrowly lost out to Hunslet and Whitehaven in their last two home fixtures.

Having beaten Whitehaven on the road already this season, the Crusaders have shown they have the required arsenal to take on teams with strong home records and Thunder will need to summon all of the effort levels they have shown in recent weeks in order to prevail.
