SQUAD ANNOUNCEMENT – Thunder Team to tame Cougars

Betfred League 1 action returns to Kingston Park Stadium this Sunday when Thunder take on Keighley Cougars (KO 3pm) in front of a big crowd as ticket sales break through the 1,000 mark.

After their previous encounter earlier in the season in the 1895 cup, Thunder will be looking for a repeated win as the battle for a promotion intensifies.

Bringing further significance to the match is the selection of Joe Brown who will surpass Robin Peer’s longstanding record and officially become the clubs most capped player as he totals up a record breaking 218 Newcastle Thunder caps this weekend.

Brown will receive a hero’s welcome from the Thunder Family at Kingston Park on Sunday which will hopefully inspire the team onto a win.

Upon breaking this outstanding record, Joe said:

“It was an honour to equal Robin Peers record but to break it is hard to put into words and it will be something I will reflect on more when I stop playing.”

“Heading into this weekend my mind and focus is on Keighley and the importance of us putting in another good performance which hopefully can get us those two valuable two points.”

You can come and see Joe break the clubs appearance record by buying your ticket online through our website, calling 0871 2266060, through the Facebook event or you can head into the Kingston Park Ticket Office.

Do not forget that Newcastle Thunder are offering a £5 special ticket offer to those who present their Newcastle United, Newcastle Eagles or Newcastle Falcons season tickets at the ticket office.
