Thunder ready for Rhinos

Newcastle Thunder will face up to Super League opposition in their next pre-season friendly, with Leeds Rhinos the visitors on Sunday 26 January.

Thunder began the countdown to kick-off in Betfred League 1 last weekend, with a solid workout against Championship side Whitehaven that ended in a 40-16 win.

The visit of the.Rhinos continues the tradition of Thunder taking on a team from a Super League club in pre-season, as the Headingley based squad become the fifth in succession to provide a high-profile challenge to Newcastle before the cut and thrust of the league gets underway.

Kicking off at 3pm, it is a game that no rugby league fan will want to miss.

Tickets for the game are on sale now, with all advanced purchases of adult and concession tickets enjoying a £5 discount off the full match day price.

Rewarding fans for buying early and allowing the club to properly prepare to offer a high-quality match day experience, advanced adult tickets are priced at just £10 and concessions £8.

Speaking on the confirmed opposition, head coach Simon Finnigan said, “Leeds will offer us the ideal test before we start the new season and to go against players from a full-time environment, which will be ideal preparation.”
