Thunder @ St James’ Park : FAQs General January 17, 2020 Newcastle Thunder will kick off the 2020 Dacia Magic Weekend at St James’ Park, when the club’s Betfred League 1 fixture against Doncaster RLFC is played as part of the schedule on day one. Kicking off at 12:30pm, it promises to be a big day for the club. Here, we address the most frequently asked questions. Q: WHY WILL THE GAME BE PLAYED AT MAGIC WEEKEND A: Betfred Super League have invited Thunder to play the game as part of the Magic Weekend schedule, after the club had previously played fixtures as an unofficial curtain raiser the Friday before the event kicked off. Being able to showcase the club on a major national stage allows the club to continue building its profile and engage with more fans in the North East, with a large percentage of ticket sales coming from the region. Q: I’M A SEASON TICKET MEMBER, IS THE GAME STILL INCLUDED? Yes! If you are a premium season ticket member, you will still receive your two-day Magic Weekend pass which includes entry for the Thunder v Doncaster game. If you are a standard season ticket holder, you will receive a Saturday Magic Weekend ticket that will grant entry to all four games taking place that day. Q: WHERE WILL MY TICKETS BE LOCATED? A: We are attempting to make the Gallowgate Stand at St James’ Park the Thunder end and as such all tickets will be issued for this stand. Q: DO I HAVE TO SIT IN THE GALLOWGATE? A: No, it will be possible to upgrade your ticket to other areas of St James’Park including hospitality. Further details will be included with your season ticket pack when these are delivered in the next couple of weeks. Q: FANS AT FOOTBALL MATCHES AT ST JAMES’ PARK CAN’T DRINK ALCOHOL AT THEIR SEATS, WILL THIS BE THE SAME FOR THE RUGBY? A: No, supporters will be allowed to drink at their seats, just as they are able to at Kingston Park Stadium. St James’ Park has offered similar plans in place for all previous Magic Weekends. In addition, there will be additional food and drink around the stadium and a city centre fanzine during the event. Q: I AM A DISABLED SEASON TICKET MEMBER; HOW DO I ARRANGE A SUITABLE EQUIVALENT TICKET AT ST JAMES’ PARK? A: Disabled season ticket members can do this by notifying us of their requirements so we can make the necessary arrangements with Super League’s ticket office. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org Q: I’M A SEASON TICKET MEMBER, CAN I UPGRADE TO A HOSPITALITY PACKAGE FOR THIS GAME? A: Yes, details of how to do this will be included in the communication we send out regarding tickets. For further information please email email@example.com Q: WILL MY SEASON CAR PARK PASS BE VALID FOR THIS GAME? A: No, due to the demands placed on the facilities at St James’ Park for an event the size of the Magic Weekend, there will be no on site parking available. Supporters who wish to drive to the game should make use of the public pay and display car parks available in the city centre. Q: WHY WEREN’T SUPPORTERS INFORMED ABOUT THIS WHEN SEASON TICKETS WENT ON SALE, AND IF I DON’T WISH TO ATTEND AM I ENTITLED TO ANY COMPENSATION? A: The deal to move this game to St James’ Park has only just been concluded. If you cannot or do not wish to attend you can exchange your Doncaster ticket for an equivalent extra ticket to another of our Betfred League 1 games, in line with our existing ticket exchange policy. This is subject to availability, and all ticket exchanges must be made before the Doncaster game.
