SIGNING: Harry confirmed for 2019 November 13, 2018 Newcastle Thunder have moved to secure one of the most consistent performers for the 2019 season, with the retention of second row Harry Aldous for the new Betfred League 1 season. Aldous, the younger brother of fellow Thunderman Jack has been a mainstay of the clubs second row for the past three seasons, after joining from Hull KR’s U19 set up back in December 2015 with his all-around skill set making him a hugely valuable asset. One of the quiet men off-field Harry is a committed and aggressive player with his excellent running lines in attack providing his side with plenty of go forward, while his formidable attitude in defence regularly sees oppositions irresistible forces met head-on with a strong immovable object. Now up to 71 appearances for Thunder, he is set to close in on the magic century mark in 2019 and is certain to be a key figure in Thunder’s push for promotion to the Betfred Championship. Speaking about his new deal, Harry said: “I’m delighted to have signed again at Newcastle Thunder, it will be my fourth year at the club and was an easy decision to stay for the 2019 season. We didn’t finish where we wanted too over the last few seasons but have improved massively each year. “The club have made some big signings for next year and the squad Jason is putting together looks really exciting, I’m really looking forward to a big year as we push for promotion.” Thunder head coach Jason Payne said: “Harry is one of our most consistent performers so I’m delighted to have retained him for next season. He brings a tireless work rate and a brilliant attitude and regularly produces man of the match performances. “He is still a very young player and he has the potential to push on to even higher levels than he already achieves and I think he is going to have a big season for both us and himself in 2019.” Aldous joins Mo Agoro, Jack Aldous, Jared Blanke, Keal Carlile, Jed Charlton, Rhys Clarke, Dan Coates, Liam Finn, Conor Fitzsimmons, Kieran Hudson, Sam Luckley, Remy Marginet, Liam McAvoy, Aaron Ollett, Liam Richmond, Alex Rowe, Niall Sidney, Evan Simons, Misi Taulapapa, David Weetman and Lewis Young in Thunder’s 2019 squad.
