Craig commits to new season with Thunder

Tyler Craig has agreed to a new deal with Newcastle Thunder that will see the talented winger remain at Kingston Park Stadium for 2018.

Making 12 appearances for the club over the course of his first season on Tyneside, he showed glimpses of his talent, scoring five tries and putting in good shifts in attack and defense.

Having agreed to a new contract with Thunder, the former York City Knights man is hopeful of achieving more and is excited by the prospects for the team in the new season.

Craig said: “It was a really easy decision to re-sign with Thunder. It’s a club on the up and I want to be part of that.

“I don’t think last year was my best with a few knock-backs with injuries throughout the year and I know I’ve got a lot more to give this year.

“It’s an exciting place to be and with the squad we’ve got I think we can be involved in the playoffs again and I’m looking forward to showing what I am capable of.”

Thunder head coach Jason Payne said: “It’s fantastic to regain Tyler’s services for a further season. Tyler had a hit and miss year last season for various reasons but what has never changed is our belief in him and how good he can be.

“Ty has trained brilliantly so far in pre-season and he looks to be back to the player we all know he can be.

“He is a vastly experienced player with a great attitude but most importantly he is a fantastic person who is great to have around the dressing room.

“Tyler is one of the fittest players at the club with a tireless work rate, I’m looking forward to seeing what he can achieve this season.”
