Full 2019 fixture list confirmed On Field November 25, 2018 Newcastle Thunder’s path through the 2019 Betfred League 1 season has been mapped out as the RFL confirm fixtures for the upcoming campaign. As confirmed early today, Jason Payne’s side will start the year at home on Saturday 16 February against Doncaster RLFC in a 2:30 kick off. The opening day of the season will see also see Betfred Championship rugby league grace the Kingston Park Stadium pitch, as the Toronto Wolfpack stage their “road” fixture against Widnes Vikings in the North East, kicking of at 5:30. An opening home game leads into two on the road, as Thunder face Coventry Bears and London Skolars before West Wales Raiders head north on Saturday 16 March. The first of the seasons clashes with Cumbria comes on March 24 away to Workington Town, before the first Sunday home game of the season against Oldham on April 7. After a second trip to the West Coast to face Whitehaven on April 28, back to back home games against Keighley and Hunsley bring up the half-way point of the season, which is marked away to North Wales Crusaders on June 6. June looks like being a big month for Thunder with the home legs against Whitehaven and Workington sandwiching the return fixture against Doncaster, before July’s action sees the team head away to Hunslet on July 7 and welcome London on Saturday July 20. The long haul to West Wales Raiders kicks off August’s action on the third and is followed by the trip to Oldham, before Coventry Beats come to Kingston Park on August 18. Thunder’s home programme for the regular season concludes on September 1 against North Wales, before the final round takes the team to Cougar Park for a clash with Keighley. With no Magic Weekend in Newcastle for 2019, all of Thunder’s 2019 home programme are announced as daytime affairs, with all games kicking off at 3pm, with the exception of the opening day fixture against the Dons.
