RE-SIGNING: Mo set to Agoro again with Thunder

Newcastle Thunder have retained the services of potent attacking threat Mo Agoro for 2019, after the 25-year-old agreed to a one year contract extension.

A powerful winger with strength and pace in abundance, Agoro is a vastly experienced operator in Betfred League 1, having made over 100 appearances across his career to date.

Staring out as a junior with Leeds Rhinos, Agoro started his professional career with the Roughyeds where two seasons of impressive performances earned him a move to Hunslet. He then made the switch to the All Golds in mid-2016, as he studied for a Masters degree in strength and conditioning at the university.

A player with an eye for the try line, Agoro has scored 65 tries over the course of the last five years with 10 of those coming in his first season at Kingston Park.

Equally adept at back-row, it is in the forwards where he has earned three international caps for Jamaica and has also gained international experience playing rugby sevens.

Newcastle Thunder head coach Jason Payne said: “I’m delighted that Mo will stay with us next season, he really contributed to what was good about our game this season and he really showed his class.

“Mo is a natural try scorer and finisher but also very good defensively and he is a strong guy with plenty of pace, which makes him a real dynamic player with a bright future in the game and he is going to have a big role to play for the club next season.”

Agoro joins Jack Aldous, Jared Blanke, Keal Carlile, Rhys Clarke, Liam Finn, Sam Luckley, Remy Marginet, Liam McAvoy, Alex Rowe, Naill Sidney, Evan Simons, David Weetman and Lewis Young in the 2019 ranks, with season tickets for the new campaign available now.
