U19s win against Wakefield

It was a double dose of victory at Kingston Park Stadium for Thunder on Sunday as the U19s took their first win in the Super League Academy U19s competition.

Playing in a tournament that is seen as the proving ground for the best young rugby league talent in the country, Thunder’s U19s have been making steady progress throughout the year with a series of impressive performances against the game’s heavyweights.

Facing Wakefield Trinity Wildcats U19s for the return fixture, having fallen to a 40-8 reverse away back in March, the young Thundermen rose to the challenge.

Fighting back from a 6-18 half-time deficit and having a man sent off, Thunder’s U19s kept Wakefield scoreless in the second half, running in 26 unanswered points to take a memorable 32-18 win as their first triumph against Super League opposition.
