9 - Evan Simons First Team Hooker D.O.B 11/10/1991 Height 180 cm Weight 86 kg Simons first moved to the North East at the start of 2015 from fellow Kingstone Press League 1 side Hemel Stags and has quickly established himself as a key member of the squad. Making 42 appearances for the club to date across his two seasons at Kingston Park, Simons has garnered a reputation for his ability to unlock opposition defences with neat distribution in open play and from play the balls. The former Widnes Viking junior has also proved to be a potent attacking threat in his time in a Thunder shirt, scoring eight tries in his first season before doubling that tally with 16 four pointers in 2016. Away from the Thunder squad, Simons further strengthened his ties to the region in 2016 by joining teammate Vincent Rennie in taking over coaching responsibilities for the open age set up at Cramlington Rockets. Attracting attention from a host of clubs in the Kingstone Press Championship, Simons decided his future remained in the North East as part of a Thunder squad he believes can challenge for honours and promotion in 2017.
