RE-SIGNING – Hudson ready for senior challenge

East Boldon’s Kieran Hudson will find himself with the opportunity to claim senior starts in 2020 as the 19-year-old graduates fully from the Thunder academy.

A former academy goalkeeper at Sunderland AFC, Hudson was released by the football club at 15 and has since been making waves in rugby league since first coming into contact with the sport as a pupil at Whitburn Church of England Academy.

Signed on senior terms for 2019, it was always the intention that the talented youngster would continue his development in Thunder’s academy structures and after doing that well, will look to add to his first senior start that he earned against Hemel Stags in 2018.

Unfortunately injured whilst adding to that experience in the pre-season friendly against Wakefield Trinity, Hudson has bounced back with positive performances as he has made the switch from the backs to the forwards.

Now standing 6ft 4″ and weighing 108kg he has marked himself out with aggressive attack and defence and translating his potential well, despite his relative inexperience.

He has also added a range of additional skills, with his offloading game in particular catching the eye of the club’s academy coaches.

With a strong pre-season and the opportunity to align himself with top quality pros within the first team group, Hudson is expected to continue his meteoric rise in the sport and join the list of home-grown talents representing the club in the near future.
