North East Rugby League Final Day General August 14, 2019 An exciting season that has entailed lots of twists and turns has eventually boiled down to this Saturday where Jarrow Vikings take on Scottish side Edinburgh Eagles in what is expected to be an action packed final hosted by Whitley Bay Barbarians at North Shields RFC, 3pm kick off. In the repeat of the first round of the 2019 North East Playoffs where the Vikings sealed the win in a last-minute penalty goal to send them straight into the final. The Vikings new Head Coach Adam Houston has made an made an immediate impact with Jarrow Vikings finishing top of the pile of the regular season and in turn earning him a Coach of the year nomination. After falling short in last years grand final to Wallsend Eagles, the Vikings will be out for revenge. The Eagles Head Coach Craig Robertson who has also been nominated Coach of the year, will be looking to utilise Young player of the year nominee Lucas Reid and Player of the year nominee Mikey Mair who have both played an instrumental role in the team’s progression to the final. The Eagles earned their spot in the final through a 77 point thriller against league newcomers from Hartlepool – West View Warriors. Listed below are all the fixtures for the day: 10:00-12:00 – U8/9/10 festival 12:45 – Woman’s game & Bolton Mets touring side v a NERL men’s select team 15:00 – NERL Men’s Final Jarrow Vikings vs Edinburgh Eagles Admission – Via Main Door to North Shields Rugby Club Admission will be £3 for adults and FREE for U16 and ALL Players. In addition to the quality rugby on show, the following will also be going ahead on the day.
