Rob Burrow support this Sunday

Newcastle Thunder supporters will be able to show their support to Rob Burrow at this weekend’s friendly against Leeds Rhinos, with the club raising funds in support of research into Motor Neurone Disease.

Thunder will take on Leeds Rhinos on Sunday afternoon in their final pre-season friendly and will allow supporters to make donations via a bucket collection and raffle, with a Rhinos shirt signed by Burrow up for grabs as the top prize.

The rugby league world has banded in support of Burrow, 37, since the announcement of his diagnosis with MND with almost £300,000 currently raised to support of his treatment and his family in the years ahead.

And with the club where he spent his entire career providing the opposition on Sunday, it is the perfect time for the Thunder family to band together in support of this legend of the game.

Thunder general manager Jordan Robinson said: “The rugby league community has shown what a close-knit group it is since Rob announced his diagnosis in December, with the support he has been shown quite something.

“We are hoping that supporters coming along to Sunday’s game will support either the raffle or the bucket collections and further grow the donated total in support of Rob.”

Bucket collectors and raffle ticket sellers will be located by the turnstiles, allowing supporters to support via their chosen method as they enter the ground.
