Thunder set for Cougars clash General April 16, 2018 Newcastle Thunder will get back onto an even keel with the rest of Betfred League 1 this weekend when they face Keighley Cougars at Kingston Park Stadium in a re-arranged Betfred League 1 fixture (KO 2pm) Originally scheduled for March 4, the original date fell afoul of “The Beast from the East” joining an entire round of fixtures that were called off and made it two postponements in a row for Thunder after their opening day fixture against West Wales Raiders was unable to be played. Having taken two wins over the Cougars in 2017, Jason Payne’s side will be eager to extend that run to three matches unbeaten, record a first home win of the season and back up their fine away form, which has delivered all three of the sides’ League 1 wins to date. The Cougars will travel to the North East off the back of a 32-18 loss away to Oldham, but more than capable of redressing the balance and avenging their 2017 results on Thunder’s patch. Sunday’s game also offers somewhat of a Thunder old boys reunion, with former players Matty Beharrell, Benn Hardcastle and Dan Parker within the Cougars ranks. Tickets for the game are on sale now, with advanced adult tickets priced at £10 standing and £12 seating. Tickets and parking passes bought for the fixture’s original date remain valid for Sunday’s game.
