Teroi agrees new Thunder deal

Aaron Teroi will remain a Newcastle Thunder player for 2017 after the Cook Island international put pen to paper on a new deal with the Tyneside club.

Making 20 appearances in his first season in the UK, Teroi joined Thunder having been part of the Melbourne Storm U20s setup and displayed his characteristic solidity in defence and good game awareness for Thunder throughout the year.

16 of his appearances were starts, underlining the role he played in a key position for the club over the course of the campaign.

The seventh player to be confirmed at Thunder for 2017, Teroi joins Harry Aldous, Jack Aldous, Joe Brown, Rhys Clarke, Vincent Rennie and Tom Reudiger in the ranks for the new season.

Speaking about Teroi’s new deal, Mick Mantelli said: “Aaron is a young kid on th rise and I think he has a lot to offer. He’s settled in a lot this year and I think after a winter break back home to rejuvenate he will come back more comfortable.

“He came out of a good structure to us in Melbourne Storm and he does the little things right.  He prepares himself well, looks after himself and works on the little things that he needs to take care of and I think he gives us a little bit more vision at dummy half.

“He needs to grow his game a bit more and with more confidence following this year, I think he will and I’m expecting big things from him.”

Season Tickets to see Newcastle Thunder in action during 2017 are on sale now, starting from £100 for adults and will include home Kingstone Press League 1 fixtures.
