Ollett secures Thunder switch from Dewsbury

Experienced second row Aaron Ollett will be back in the Thunder fold in 2018 after agreeing on a move from Championship side Dewsbury Rams for the 2018 season.

The 25-year-old returns to a club where he made 22 appearances over two seasons whilst an on-loan Hull Kingston Rovers player and brings a wealth of knowledge gained from playing across the three tiers of UK professional rugby league.

With 26 Super League appearances under his belt for the Robins, Ollett has proven himself at the top table of the domestic game and arrives at Kingston Park Stadium impress with his performances.

Equally adept in the back row and at hooker, Ollett is a versatile player who will offer head coach Jason Payne numerous options throughout the season.

With plenty of potential still to be fulfilled, he promises to be an exciting addition for 2018.

Speaking about his move, Ollett said: “I was on loan at Newcastle a few years back and really enjoyed my time and I’m looking forward to starting the season and to start enjoying my rugby again.

“Thunder are a club that you can see are going places with a determined coach who knows the game well and very impressive looking squad. It has youth along with a few old heads with a lot of experience and I want to bring a lot of energy in alongside my experience.”

Jason Payne said: “I’m delighted Aaron has signed, he has considerable experience at a very high level which will undoubtedly add a great deal to our squad.

“His versatility to be able to play in the middle, back row and at hooker gives us plenty of options. He is a very good player and an even better person with a great attitude and has already made a big impact at training.”
