Reserve grade opens away to Wolves

Newcastle Thunder will kick off their 2020 Reserve grade competition away to Warrington Wolves on Saturday 1st February, with fixtures for the eagerly awaited tournament today confirmed.

It’s the first of four fixtures in a busy opening month for the club, with back to back home games coming in the middle weeks of the month, with Salford Red Devils the visitors on Saturday 8th and London Broncos on Saturday 15th.

The visit of the Broncos is the first of six that will share the billing with Betfred League 1 fixtures, with the games against Hull KR, Bradford Bulls, Leeds Rhinos, Castleford Tigers and Hull FC all scheduled to take place on first team match days.

Leeds’ visit on May 22nd will also add to the big festival atmosphere around Newcastle for the Dacia Magic Weekend and will give Rhinos fans a second opportunity to see their club in action on Tyneside, ahead of their Super League clash against Hull FC at St James’ Park the following day.

Joining Bradford Bulls and Widnes Vikings as three non Super League sides invited to participate in the 2020 competition, reserve grade games are set to prove an invaluable tool to the Thunder in providing game time to players and create further competition for places within the club’s talented squad.

Running through to the end of August with an away fixture against the Bulls, the full schedule for 2020 is:
