SQUAD ANNOUNCEMENT – Thunder settled for Hunslet trip

Newcastle Thunder have named an unchanged 19-man match day squad for Sunday’s Betfred League 1 match against Hunslet RLFC (KO 3pm), as they look to build on last weekend’s eye-catching win over Workington.

Head coach Simon Finnigan has opted for stability in selection, with performances improving as his side has continued to gel as the season heads to its business end.

It is a selection that means Lewis Young is still out through the after-effects of his injury from the away game against Doncaster and the Mikey Lewis is again made available on loan from Hull KR.

Looking to extend their unbeaten run in the league to five matches, Thunder will be eager to avenge the 18-32 defeat inflicted by Gary Thornton’s side at Kingston Park back in May.

With a good record in recent seasons at the South Leeds Stadium, with wins in two of the last three meetings played at the ground, a top quality game is in prospect as both sides look to maintain the title challenge in Betfred League 1.
