Free scoring winger Alex Clegg will be hoping to be a big part of Newcastle Thunder’s 2021 campaign, after the young academy graduate agreed new terms at Kingston Park Stadium.
The 21-year-old made himself an almost indispensable feature for the club in 2019 as he made 25 appearances out of a possible 28 and placed himself as the second-top try scorer of the season with an impressive 19 four pointers to his name.
He continued where he left off in the truncated 2020 season, making five competitive starts and scoring three tries.
Able to play at fullback, centre or wing, Clegg is a versatile option who first came to the club back in 2018, joining the academy after moving to the region to study at Northumbria University.
His form for Thunder has built impressively on his first in the region back in 2018, where he marked himself out as one to watch by becoming a key fixture in the University side as they triumphed in the BUCS Grand Final, before making his Thunder first-team debut.
After forming a potent partnership on the left edge with Kieran Gill, Clegg is tipped to make further progress in the new year and develop his game further still in Thunder colours.
