Academy graduate Ollie Gowing is back in the Thunder ranks for the 2021 season, with the talented young hooker set to make his next career steps with the club.
An exciting talent, Gowing has already featured for the Thunder first team having made five appearances since making his debut against West Wales Raiders at the end of the 2018 season.
He earned further appearances by taking to the field against North Wales Crusaders and Coventry Bears in the league and York City Knights in the 1895 Cup during 2019 and impressed heavily during that year’s U19s academy season.
With his character seeing him become a major part of that team’s leadership group he was involved in the impressive pre-season win over Whitehaven at the start of 2020 and also featured in the club’s reserve side.
A diligent player who works hard with extra efforts to improve his skills, he is eligible to play for the USA internationally and grew up on the other side of the pond with wrestling and state-level baseball commanding his attention.
With Ireland international Bob Beswick in the squad to learn from, Gowing is set to for a big 2021 with Thunder and will be looking to make the most of a full pre-season to put himself into the best possible shape to challenge for his spot in the first team.
