Warrington prop Samy Kibula will spend the season at Kingston Park Stadium in 2020, after Newcastle Thunder agreed a season-long loan for the club’s Betfred Championship campaign.
A 21-year-old graduate of Wigan Warriors youth system where he was a two-time Academy Grand Finalist winner Kibula made his Super League debut with the Cherry and Whites against Huddersfield in 2018 aged 19.
Playing on loan in the Championship for Swinton, the 6ft 4” forward gained further experience in the second tier in 2019, playing a total of 23 matches in loan spells with the Lions and Dewsbury.
Moving to the Wolves for 2020, Kibula made two appearances for Steve Price’s side following the season’s restart, including the impressive 36-0 win over Wakefield.
Born in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Kibula moved to the UK aged two and played both rugby league and rugby union during his formative years.
A consistent performer throughout his career, his physical prowess, leg speed and ball skills make him an exciting talent who will add further depth to Denis Betts and Eamon O’Carroll’s squad.
